You use it to write on paper, and it simultaneously stores it on PC.

That was my first thought, so I googled. Initially I thought it was one of those pen sized OCR text scanners (C-Pen).

Have used the logitech io devices which were about as good as any. They were very bulky at the time and I think probably still are.
Personally my advice would be to not bother but if she really wants one then I think that might do you.
