Well looks like it is knackered but thanks for what advice help you have given.

No warranty left, It's to old.

I have been trying to find a UK contact number for western digital but can't find it. Only a american free phone number that is not free in the UK.

I have a back up of some data but not all. Would cost to much for data recovery.

I was hoping to fix it myself but if something more technical has gone, then can't do it anyway.
