Surgemaster

I've just noticed that the 'Protected' light on my 8-way surgemaster is not illuminated, although all devices are operating ok. Earth light is on. Can't think of any incident or issue which might have triggered this. Obviously I'm concerned that it means that the kit isn't doing the business.

I've looked at the hopeless Belkin website,, and have noticed that there is a recall of certain Belkin surge protection products, but the post is sourced from the USA, and I haven't yet found an equivalent UK posting about this. Obviously I now need to check the product reference of my particular surgemaster product.

But I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience?

It may have tripped - I use several here too.

Have you tried fully powering it off for maybe an hour? It could be a thermal fuse has tripped which will self heal, or it could be a lot worse and the unit has done its job.

Belkin Surge Protectors have lifetime warranties, as far as I am aware. I had one replaced recently after about 7 years of use due to a on/off switch developing a fault.

Give them a call and they should be able to arrange a replacement for you for a similar or better product (I was given different options). You would need to send your faulty surge protector back to them before they can dispatch a replacement.

Yes, MHC. Normally I power off every night, including the surgemasters - much to the amusement of my son.

I'll now contact the uk support address you noted, Alex. As I wrote, I'm not aware of any incidents which might have caused this, but reading your response has reminded me that the on/off switch has seemed a bit temperamental of late.

I have had once of their cheepo's (white) for around 3yrs,no probs with it, but it very rarely gets it's switch moved, but even should i be away for more than 1 day, it will be unplugged from the mains socket maybe that is the way to go, then said on/off switch don't ware out so fast, But if they put a lifetime warranty on it, they have to honor it, if it just a switch failure
