Hard Drive Errors

My laptop was on next to me and both my PC and my laptop gave me a BSOD at the same time.

It was a STOP 0x000000F4

Now my PC rebooted fine and all is well there but my laptop would not boot

After running seatools i have found its now full of bad sectors.

Seatools is repairing the drive as i type but..

It dose a short test, fails, dose a long test, finds 100 errors stops, repairs the errors then passes a short test of those repaired sectors.

Then i do a short teat again and it fails. and i repeat the process and each time it gets further though the drive with out errors untill it finds more.

Im going to keep going but think ill RMA it.

But how can a BSOD cause this?

The only thing common to all the symptoms is the power. Power surge maybe? Was the Laptop plugged in at the time?

Maybe the BSOD did not cause the problem, I can't see it happening myself. I should think the drive developed ta fault and caused the BSOD


How old is the drive? I presume not very old if you are going to RMA it
