HD TV

My laptop resolution is: 1368x768. When I access BBC i player / HD, does it mean that my laptop is actually playind HD?

iPlayer HD is 1280x720 I believe; so yes you will be viewing it at full resolution, up scaled slightly to fit your laptop monitor, in full screen.

HD only means something larger than 720x576 (1024x576) - "full HD" is 1920x1080.

Thanks for the reply. Does this mean if I connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI will I see HD on TV despite the fact that my tv is only HD ready?? or am I too optimistic!!

Sorry don't know much about HD ready TV's, but I guess you will get at least 1280x720 over HDMI - audio could be a problem though: you may have to use a separate analogue connection for that...

On an HD ready TV you can only get a maximum of 1280 x 720 for full HD 1080p or 1080i you need a Full HD TV go here for an explaination

What is HD Ready and Full HD

If you connect to the TV using HDMI from the PC as long as the audio is set to output to HDMI you should get sound. If your graphics card does not support sound over HDMI then you will have to connect up using the analogue out from your PC sound card to the TV. The same applies whether it is the iplayer or any other video player you are getting to play from the PC to TV.
