CPU temps today

Idling at 40C...usually 30C or so. Best not run any stress proggies.

In the good old days I've had a P4 processor report upto 80c or so. Whether that was a faulty sensor I don't know but it certainly seemed to correspond with things.

Currently, my Works i5 Laptop is running at approx 70C on both cores!

Todays processors will run at 50-80 no problem. Only becomes a problem if you overclock and the instability kicks in at the extremes.

The P4s were notorious for heat and the quote here of 80c isn't unusual. I hated them.

My quad core AMD Phenom II 3.5 is around 45, but the fan speed have not changed, still under a 1,000RPM and the computer is rendering a video, mind you that is done more so by the video card now, but CPU is around 50%. so not too bad.

I was playing Battlefield 3 the other day and I reached 105°C on the cores on my i5 . After that I shut down and cleaned the filter on the case. It was clogged with so much dust.

48 at idle here on my Core 2 Duo E8400.

Makes you wonder how they manage in hotter climes, e.g. Australia, cobber.

Well I have a Core 2 duo 3Gz running at 3.6Ghz, so am not too inclined to see how how things can get. In truth, my gfx card went down the tubes a year or so ago, so I swapped in an old passive heatsink card, and it's not all that happy to run too hot in the gfx stuff. We're really talking games (which I don't bother with so much nowadays), but on a day like this, I wasn't chancing extended vid stuff.

Ambient room temp was 25.5^oC today, and is still at 25^oC. Strange, as it's 15C outside right now. Maybe best to standby and open the window for a bit.
