Hot weather and hardware

Is it normal for your PC to run hotter with the hot weather we're getting? Noticed that although my CPU temps are normal my mobo and hard drive idle temps have increased and the fans are spinning abit faster as a result

I used to have to take the side off my old system box in hot weather to prevent the CPU from overheating.

Yes, heat is harder to dissipate in a hot environment.

Crack a window and turn on an external fan in your room would be my advice.

Are PSU's temperature controlled like the CPU fan? I monitor my temps/fan speeds and the CPU fan and temps all look fine, but i notice when its hot the PSU seems to be abit louder (i know its the PSU as the only other fan in the PC is running at the same RPM). I have onboard graphics so no fan for that

A lot of PSU's do come with auto fan control so when it gets hotter the fan will spin up more to remove the extra heat.

yes ambient temp affects pc temp's.

The affect is bigger the closer the temps are to ambient levels.

So e.g. under idle my gpu can go from say 29-30C up to 35C on a hot july day.

But the load temp wont move by the same amount so the load temp might go e.g. from 65C to 67C.
