Adding ARGB to an older build - Advice please :)

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I've been given an Asus Q87M-E LGA1150 and a case as a gift. I already have a 4590 and 16Gb DDR3 1600, a 240Gb SSD, 2x 1Tb HDDs, a BR RW and an RX560 2Gb graphics card, which are going into the build.

Can someone please explain to me how I would go about connecting up these to each other and the Motherboard, as the included Chinglish instructions are less than useful.

As I understand it, the hub connects to one of the 4 pin PWM headers on the Q87 (it has no ARGB header, so the 3 pin ARGB tail of the cable isn't used) but what about the fans? Do I need to connect both the 4 pin PWM and the 3 pin ARGB to the controller, or just the PWM side of the tail?

I haven't built a PC since around 2002, so I know the basics of how to install the components, but they didn't have ARGB back then, so I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance. smile

Nothing to see here.. Move along, please
