Lser is no good for card

[link to this post]

So my laser/LED printer is not good with card, it curls it up. So it is certainly an inkjet printer i need.

It needs pigment ink, at least A3 and because of cheaper prices to run them, tank based.
Need to support card and that sort of stuff.
Sadly, the only one I can find that does all I want is the Epson EcoTank ET-8550. I say sadly for two reason, one it is Epson, and I am not a fan of Epson, the second is, it is over £700, slightly cheaper on Amazon at the moment.

That is a lot of money for a printer, Cheaper at Amazon than it is from work with my discount smile

Also looking at the cricut joy extra.

I was going to put his in the digital photography and that sort of thing forum

Cannon and brother at one stage did do, a3 printers. Pigment ink are normally 3rd party ink.

How often do you need to print to card ?

My photography isn’t serious enough to warrant a dedicated A3 inkjet, but if I was in the market I’d be tempted by the Canon imagePROGRAF or PIXMA Pro series.

They still do A3 printers, pigment ink is not 3rd party, a printer needs to be made for pigment ink. I think you mean Sublimation ink, which is a different thing.

As for printing on card, I am thinking of getting a Cricut, been mucking around with the idea for a while, if I do then I will be using card a fair bit.

Brother still does A3, but by all accounts Brother inkjets are not that great for photos, more of an office printer.

The problem with those two is the price of ink, the Epson is a lot cheaper. I don't know, it is a lot of money for a printer.

I must be crazy, I just paid over £600 for a printer, it better be good and I need to make use of it. the pigment ink is black only.

Now decide tomorrow what cricut to get, the Joy extra or the explorer 3, I think it will be the joy extra, I don;lt really need anything larger I don't think

i was actually thinking of both.. I've not looked at epson printers for at least a good four or five years, i know the Durabrite branding had been around for a good 10 years, but didn't realise at some stage it had gone to "DURABrite Ultra pigment ink"..

yeah card get a cricut ........ especially if you are doing a lot of card!

Both what? I said I would never buy another Epson after the one I had had so many problems, this was many years ago, when they used to have the Stylus models. But one of my brothers have had Epson for a while, and it seems to be okay, a pretty high-end machine, but seems reliable, apart from the drivers playing up now and again. That could be Windows.

I like Canon, I have had canon inkjets over the years, but decided to go for a Laser/LED printer a few years ago. I have a Canon selphy printer for photos, which is very good, even if it can only print 148 x 100 mm as the largest size.

But I decided I wanted to print on other paper and card, something the laser can't do.

My thoughts were, I want A3, print on card stock and an ink tank and sadly, the price just went up as I wanted more specs smile

I ordered the EcoTank ET-8550 in the end. It has Claria ET Premium ink, what ever that is. It is cheap to run, also has a 5-year warranty. Over the years, I think I have spent more than what this printer costs on new printers.
I will keep the LED printer, as it is great for text and even graphics. The epson has a scanner, but I will keep my old HP one handy, for a start it can do duplex scanning and is very fast, but the one on the Epson will be useful for copying.

I have seen all the tape on the Epson.smile

As for the Cricut, I have ordered the Joy extra, I did think about the explorer, but it is a fair bit more, and I don't think I need all the features. If it turns out I do, then I will get one at a later date.

I just wanted to muck around with one, I am not artistic, but just wanted to try something different.

Got to sort out this room, get it painted and move some stuff around and then also do what i have been meaning to do and do some videos, well more of them.
