New year new mouse

[link to this post]

Been looking through my order history and support tickets for Corsair, Logitech and MS mice. Non of them seem to last beyond 2 years. I am in the process of returning a Logitech G203 because of erratic scroll wheel. The one previous to that was a Corsair Harpoon RGB which was replaced by a Harpoon Pro because of left click bounce (double click on one click). I am using the Pro now until the replacement G203 turns up on 3rd Jan. Before that I had a MS Comfort mouse where again the scroll wheel became erratic.

Average life of these mice is about 1 to 2 years. Is there any mice out there that will last? I have another Logitech basic mouse on my other machine which was about a tenner and that has lasted years. It's at least as old as the PC from 2008.

The MX Master series from Logitech. My last one was maybe 8 years and I had physically worn away the thumb pad - the switches still worked. My wife has one too and that is of similar age.

https://www.logitech.com/en-gb/search.html?q=MX+MAST... in graphite or light grey not sure what the "Business" variant is though. And probably cheaper elsewhere though.

I’ve got one of those, and matching keyboard. Can’t comment on longevity, but they are by far the best kit I’ve ever had (though not cheap). And they connect to 3 computers! Not quite enough for my ideal setup, but I’m not aware of equipment that provides more connections without extra hardware.

I have the Logitech lift mouse, it is a vertical mouse, over 2 years old now, works well.

Also have a Logitech MX keys mini, not so fond of it, I got it just before I got the Mac as it is suitable for both mac and pc, but I don't like the keys, I miss type a lot on it and miss the keys, I have to go really slow on it. I am thinking of getting the mechanical version, something I should have got in the first place.

But the lift mouse is amazing. I love it.

I saw that mouse looking through the Logitech mice. I have a G11 keyboard which I got for a bargain £20 in Overclockers sale. Had it years and love it although its a shame I cant get the macro keys to work on Linux, work fine in Win 11.

I have an old logitech G11, but when I got this desk it was too big for it, so was a normal keyboard, well if I wanted to keep the mouse on the same level. So i got a Corsair 10 keyless, it was okay, but it had problems, one of the reason I changed to the Logitech MX keys.

The mouse is great if you can get used to a vertical one, I got myself a cheap Anker one to see if I could get used to it and I took to it right away, The Anker one lasted for a while for the price, but got knocked off the desk once too often smile. i kept forgetting about it when I pushed the tray in. I make sure the Logitech is on the top .

Why I push the keyboard tray in I don't know

I could be tempted for one of those, but would prefer one with a charging dock rather than a USB-C connecter, such as used for mobile phones etc. I don't fancy having to charge the mouse daily and fear that it would soon suffer from a damaged USB-C connector.

I'm also puzzled about the difference between the MX Master 3S and the Business version. The more so since currently the MX Master 3X is £20 cheaper due to a £20 off offer. Ah, going through the specs again, the "standard" version is available in Graphite or Pale Gray whilst the Business version's colour is not listed. Strange!

Cheers!
