don't tip water onto a keyboard :)

[link to this post]

Tipped water onto my MX keys keyboard, now some keys are on auto-repeat. Hopefully it will dry out, turned it off and stuck it by the window. There was a fair bit of water dripping out of it and no screws to get into it.

At the moment, using an old logitech G110, I can't believe I used to use this. Not only is it large as it has the G keys as well as the numeric pad, it is awful to type on. The other problem is, no mac symbols.
If the MX keyboard has gone, I may get a mechanical one again, like I used to, but the Logitech MX mechanical

Not that many years ago, it was possible to strip a keyboard down and clean it out, now some of them are so complex.

Water should be ok. Just let it dry out sufficiently.

We used to regularly wash IBM keyboards by totally immersing them, particularly after a beverage spillage. Give them plenty of time to dry out and they are as good as new.

You can’t beat a model M.

They were certainly robust, if a little noisy in offices where people were trying to "Think". wink

It is a cordless keyboard with a battery in, so hopefully it has not shorted anything out, I hate this keyboard, I can't believe I used to this.

Oh no.
i am not sure if it was just water to be honest, what came out certainly looked a different colour to water.

Turned it on this morning and the light still flashing, so I stuck it back in the window with the window opened to move some air over it.

Doesn’t the flashing light mean it needs recharging?

I thought that, i have managed to take it apart, there is a nice bit of black on the main board, such a shame.

so I have ordered a Logitech MX mechanical mini, The MX keys was okay, but always seemed as if I was typing on a table. did not really want to spend out.
