Canon printer

Flipping heck my printer just sent me an email to tell me that it has alexa in it. I can now print from a speaker and it will tell me when I am low on ink.

LOL, your printer emailed you or Canon?
The Epson I have is supposed to be able to be connected to Alexa, but only in the U.S, it does have an email address so I can send stuff to it print. Something called Epson connect, I did set it up, but only used it just to try it out.

Amazon emailed me and told me that they found a printer with Alexa on it. I just printed a test page using voice.

I know not sure I am comfortable with Amazon crawling my LAN.

As you have used voice control with your printer you presumably have some Alexa device with a microphone. That would mean that you have anlready explicitly given Amazon permission to crawl your network.

If you have Alexa devices, then it is doing that anyway, or using any Amazon services, I have a few of the Alexa units, but I still would not want it to recognise a device that have Alexa on it.

My Epson printer need a skill, it don't have a microphone in or anything like that and all it does is print certain things with a voice command, like a calendar or ruled paper, nothing exiting. As i said, it is U.S only, well it was when I got the printer, so I presume it still is
