So recently a new apartment building has been made available to the public and currently the apartments have access to the FTTC network locally, however I'm wondering if Hyperoptic or any of its competitors may be interested in installing a full fibre service there.
Anyone had any experience of raising interest and getting such a thing done or would it be a waste of time?

If no residents yet, then very much a case of a partnership with the developer.

if you have FTTC and that is high speed and choice of significant number of service why bother with something else - cant seen the value of it

Because 1Gb/1Gb symmetrical is available.

A major problem could be the likely take up. Current patterns see a large proportion of those connecting via FTTC opting for an up to 40 Mbps connection even where they could expect to see speeds in the 70s. I suspect few residents would want to spend the additional sum needed for a 1 Gbps service although they might want to step up in future.

It's £25 per month for 1Gbps symmetrical. However, lower speeds are available.

There starting to move people in now I believe, I may be one of them judging how viewings go next week, I think 'll get in touch with the developers and see if there ok with it and then maybe see if I can get residents on board.

Which commercial operations are selling 1Gb symmetrical for £25 a month? Genuine question not being sassy.
I'm only aware of one community-based provider, not purely commercial, that relies on volunteer manpower quite heavily and isn't going to be installing anything in apartment buildings any time soon.

Couldn't say of line length but know that "currently" the BTW checkers saying between round 60-80 for FTTC...
Obviously I've no problem with that but if there was a possibility of being able to a faster than 18meg upload speed I would be working towards it.
PS, I think the NGA is only 96 line capable and may fill up pretty quickly once were connected...

Hyperoptic obviously.

Hyperoptic obviously.
Don't see anything about them pricing 1Gb at £25/month.
Believe it's £60/month without a phone line and £47/month + line rental.
There are a few time limited special offers but they are exactly that, not the ongoing price.
They appear to charge £22/month + line rental for 100Mb, £35/month without a phone line.
Not a bad price by any stretch, mind.

You must be looking in the wrong place https://hyperoptic.com/

That's only for 6 months, £47 a month after, plus £16 a month for phone service. Or without phone, £30 a month for 6 months, then £60 thereafter

That's a promotion. Quote the true price and it's very different. Remember also users are tied to a choice of just one ISP. I would expect to see relatively few take up a high speed Hyperoptic service when FTTC at 60-80 Mbps is available from a choice of ISPs. Our development had a choice of gap funding a BT AIO cab or contributing to a Hyperoptic installation. Care to guess which they chose and the reasons given?

Are you on FTTC yet?

Are you on FTTC yet? No. Our AIO cab is going in on Wednesday and should be ready for use early next year, hopefully late January or early February.
Hyperoptic kept changing their plans and costings. At one point they just wanted a contribution towards their costs, not unreasonable as it involved running Ethernet in trunking to 75 properties half of which are terraced houses. Then they decided they wanted 45 firm commitments to connect and a contribution or may be not, all depending on who we spoke to. We even told them who to contact for 28 possible connections which they seemed to be reluctant to do. If they had got those 28 they would have had well over 40, perhaps even 50 committed. The company owning those 28 properties were forever complaining that they were losing tenants due to poor broadband and told us they would be happy to include a basic level broadband connection with each property. Now it's too late and residents are looking forward to upgrading their existing TT/BT/Sky/Plusnet/EE etc connections to FTTC. Most if not all should be able to achieve rates well into the 70s. The longest cable run from the new AIO is around 200m.

Hello
It's likely that we're working with the Developer however please email details to [email protected] and we'll confirm.
Generally, for new developments, the service will be installed and ready before residents move in. If Hyperoptic is not available, residents can still champion for Hyperoptic to be installed as a retro-fit.

I hope this helps

Thanks, I've just dropped you an email and had a look at the champions link too.
I'm going to view the apartments tomorrow and will try dig some info on the developers and also what infrastructure is available.

I never understood why Hyperoptic seem to need to charge SO much for a landline!

Hello CJT,
Thank you for your feedback.
We do our best at maintaining a competitive price for all of our services. Line rental fee of £16 is not mandatory, as we also provide our customers with an option of opting for broadband only packages.
Current broadband only promotion allows you to have 20Mbit package with no landline at £11pm for the first six months, and £22pm for the second six months. For other packages and further details, you may refer to: https://hyperoptic.com/residential-package/?broadban...
Best regards,
Hyperoptic
