Does hyperoptic periodically change your ip address?
or hyperoptic ip address never changes for residential service.

Hi jorgegh1,
Our IP addresses are fixed by the configuration of the network and rarely change. An instance when a residential/business IP would change is in the case of a big regrade (network design change) that makes it mandatory, otherwise we won't change it.
We've had this happen only a handful of times since we've started, so it shouldn't be a big factor for any customer.

thank you for your reply.
having a static IP address this can easily be traced back to you.
i feel more comfortable with dynamic ip address.
if you add dynamic ip address feature i will switch from sky to you.

Hi jorgegh1,
At the moment, we can only offer fixed IP addresses due to our network design, however, if you'd like to conceal your IP address, it might be worth to think about a VPN service. Let us know if you'd like to learn about anything else - we're happy to assist.

You are very much mistaken if you think a dynamic IP address is providing you with any sort of anonymity on the internet.

To be fair, it can be handy in some circumstances i.e., if you have silly kids DDoSing you on games etc, with a dynamic IP you can avoid it and carry on playing elsewhere. No good for the ISP, mind..

It makes no difference static or dynamic, both are traced back to you equally.
There is no advantage to a dynamic IP that I can think of, unless you are trying to get around a system which only allows you to download so much per IP address, & you want to 'trick' it. Even then, it would not be advisable to reboot your router regularly.
Those of us on ISPs who supply dynamic IP addresses generally do not reboot our routers, so the IP address stays the same for a long time anyway.

A dynamic IP address is great for re-registrating on forums under a new username.
You just need to use a different email address and make sure the IP address is different from the one you last logged in under prior to re-registration.

Easily done using a VPN as Hyperoptic suggested.
