The only pain now seems to be that despite Amazon and Hyperoptic both being at IX Manchester, they're currently not exchanging traffic over that IX, instead routing to London via GTT and then into Amazon's network from there.
I wonder how much traffic is therefore going via (expensive?) transit rather than just peering. Especially since the Manchester Cloudfront node doesn't get used, in favour of transit down to London. With so much stuff being in AWS these days, I'd have guessed that it would be a nice quick win to get peering with Amazon wherever possible.
Of course, since nothing is 'broken' per se, it's not worth bothering the customer services guys about it!
