OH NO, IM CONTENDED!

[link to this post]

I'm due to get back onto IDNet on Tuesday after moving house, I checked my exchage status on:

http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/

And its showing red!! It has an estimated fix dated of today, my question is how accurate are the fix dates and if I go onto IDNet and the exchange is still heavily contended and am receiving horrible speeds what can I do? I understand this is a BT problem not IDNet so I assume I get onto BT about sorting it or do I go through IDNet cs?

There's nothing you can do about it, and the dates are as accurate as BT want them to be- if they miss the estimated date they just move it up a week or so....

Basically, all you can do is sit on your backside and wait for BT to install more kit at the exchange

GREAT! I've never had an issue with contention on my previous exchange, what impact is this going to have on my connection/speed?

You'll probably see speeds a bit lower than you'd like, but in all honesty it's not usually too bad unless the contention gets really bad. And it'll pick up again when the new kit goes in.

Mind you, it'll probably go red again a few weeks after that as more people go on IPStream Max and the DSLAMs fill up again, but such is the price of progress....

You could always move dow to my neck of the woods. Very low contention and very stable connections. That's in Essex, Walton on Naze and Frinton on sea area.

Oh and property is relatively cheap with Rail lines into Colchester and London. What more could you want
