Rik, if I took up the IDnet broadband and phone package do you, or anyone else, know what charges would be made by BT if I wanted to return to them for line rental and phone?

As is my understanding if you already have an active phone line, say with IDNet there would be no cost incurred in returning to BT, it's like migrating to another broadband provider. New lines and dead lines (where the line is there but has no tone) cost 125 quid to install/reactivate. Because it does take 125 quids worth of an engineers time to turn a dead line back on I'm sure....
