IDNet's usage table

Has IDNet's usage table suddenly become a lot more accurate? I've been with IDNet for nearing 18 months and have always found that they record my usage slightly below what I actually download/upload.
This month I've noticed it's bang on, which is unfortunate for me as I was previously able to download in excess of the 30/30GB allowance by a few gb without penalty. Sadly this looks as though it's going to change now
Since the hiccups with the BT changeovers etc I''ve had no issues what so ever, can't fault the service, but it looks like sticking with IDNet is going to cost me more as I regularly exceed 30GB in a month by a couple gigs...55GB seems to be the most I've ever downloaded in a month, my router has logs going back two years which is always handy
Hoping I don't have to migrate out, it depends on whether I can force myself to evenly split my usage between night and day, which isn't easy when people in the house watch iplayer etc all day
Rant over!

It will settle in the next few days, it's always out at the start of the month. You can check your actual usage on your accounts page, and sign up to the RSS feed to get an automatic daily reminder.

grrr having to pay an extra £8 this month for using less than I did last month! I've been used to being able to happily download a bit more during peak than is recorded, guess those days are over

Unfortuantely economics and BT's charging structures have begun to affect many isp's costs. I blame the Government myself.

Perhaps, though IDNet must have known that the usage table underreads actual download and upload amount. they must have! I still like them as an ISP, they pulled out all the stops to get BT to correct my line profile, after a bit of a push anyway.
I've grown used to having 832k up and being able to download as fast as is possible at any time of the day. There aren't many other places I can get that, especially the 832k up, though the enhanced priority at exchange is another positive!

i'm only getting that down atm, although it is spiking a little higher,
and ping to BBC once again high..

Once the line has been switched over to WBC you should get that upload speed on other ISPs... I have 896Kbit up atm on BT Broadband (residential).

No idea yet! Have looked at AAISP, not sure whether I could keep under the 8GB mon-fri 9-6 limit, though I am at work between those hours 4 of those days, my gf is sometimes home and likes to hammer iplayer and that. Fast are another candidate, though they charge monthly for even a single IP address which puts me right off them! Aside from them, no idea really!
Is it really true that once lines are on WBC I'll get 832k up? Why only 832k, do you not sync using ADSL2+ once switched to WBC?

I just wish IDNet never fixed the bandwidth monitoring really!

And Tiscali....never ever ever ever! BT retail would wind me up as they slow NNTP right down at peak times. o2 Access I've though about just on price alone, but they're rubbish recently it seems, and no one knows whether or not they'll start packet shaping later down the line, while tied in for 12 months!

Once on WBC even on ADSL1 the product spec has no upload speed limits - it syncs as fast as your line can go (providing the ISP doesn't throttle your speeds).

If your on WBC and have the ADSL2+ product then you may see 1.2+Mbit upload speeds.

My line has been moved to WBC but they haven't yet provisioned any ADSL2+ products so I'm still on ADSL1 but getting sync speeds over 800kbit up.

I posted in the BT forum a couple of speedtest results showing upload speeds over 700kbit.

I won't be able to get those speeds though I'll only get 448k up on most ISP for the foreseeable future...So jealous!
832k upstream is handy for hosting games on XBLive, as friends with regular 448k hit the bandwidth ceiling when the server fills up and causes lag etc.
I'd go for o2 if they'd offer IPStream premium for a bit more cash!
