I'm inclined to agree regarding the Peterborough exchange as there is probably still some work going on.
The trouble with BT is they don't always announce their maintenance schedules, so quite often ISPs are left in the dark as to what is happening. This isn't confined to iDNet as some of the posts on the AAISP blog will confirm.
If you do post on iDNetters try to include your modem stats - modem brand/type, attn, SNR and so on together with some details of your setup, such as whether you are wired directly to the main socket and what else is connected. For example Sky boxes are notorious for injecting noise into the system and causing problems.
My speeds with iDNet are pretty consistent and pings are around 29ms which apart from a very brief period when they were experiencing some well documented problems, is what they've been since I joined last August.
