Some routes failing?

[link to this post]

As of 20 past midnight, I seem to be having problems getting to some addresses, e.g. slashdot.org and node2.bbcimg.co.uk (used for some content on the BBC news website).

I've checked and these addresses are reachable from elsewhere, just not via my IDNet connection!

Same here. Looks like a router failure.

I can't reach slashdot, but the BBC url is OK.

OTOH my 1and1 mail is timing out...

Shortly after midnight is when BT often start work that may be disruptive... who knows? crazy

As long as it's not just me! laugh

Re slashdot.org, I've just confirmed that I still can't reach it via IDNet, but I can via an SSH tunnel to dreamhost.com -- so the site is running fine.

Quite a few reports on IDNetters, and some indication that it's been happening more often recently. And not just to IDNet!

I seem to be able to reach UK sites OK, some overseas ones seem to be the most problematic.

BT had a problem in the Stepney Green Exchange which houses the 21CN Metronode that serves IDNet in Telehouse. The problem has been resolved but we do not currently have any further information as to what the problem was.

Thanks Simon.

Bearing in mind the importance of Stepney Green to the whole UK internet, I see that BT are maintaining their usual levels of resilience frown

Speed problems/ Some routes failing?

[re: simon_idnet] [link to this post]

My download speeds this morning are 3.5-2 mbps as opposed to 7-6 mbps. Can this be attributed to the current issue? Or must I assume it to be related to my ongoing sync problem- now 3 weeks old?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3359 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 2000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 960 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 10.58:27.55:61.88 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

Thanks

It's unlikely to be related to the Stepney Green incident.

Back to "normal" now. Some minor exchane menace I assume...

Download speedachieved during the test was - 7293 Kbps

These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic

Thanks for the reply! I didn't notice any further problems myself once it had come back up.
