Lousy pings >.<

[link to this post]

Yesterday and today have been abysmal. I recently migrated in from Nildram 'cos of the WoW issues, but lousy pings don't impress me any more than constant disconnections on Nildram. Do I have to migrate AGAIN? >.<

edit:

Rebooted my router and PC and still the pings are [censored]. Also just noticed my downstream speed has dropped from a rather nice 6.9Mbps to a less than dazzling 1.2Mbps. Real world download averaged 0.78Mbps. Yay.

Yep, my ping the last two days has been 130+, just in time for the BF2142 demo :O( Giving IDNet the benefit of the doubt that they will be able to sort this out asap.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of days ago - first hop was taking 150ms+ and some packet loss. I spent about 30 mins on the phone to support while they checked my line etc, and was told the problem was on the BT network somewhere between my router and their equipment.

After I came off the phone to them I decided to try the BT speedtest, so I disconnected from IDNET and used the BT login. The speedtest was down (busy), but when I reconnected to IDNet my pings were back down to <20ms; I was probably disconnected from IDNET for about 20 minutes. It might be worth trying either connecting using the BT login, or just leaving the router off for a while and then reconnecting.

I tried switching my router off for 45 minutes, but it was still abysmal upon reconnecting. In game pings of 470ms are kinda grinding my gears

Pings dropped to reasonable levels at around 9pm. I'll wait and see what the 'morrow brings before moaning anymore >.<

Oh Gawd not Telehouse again...I thought this had been resolved
As always - test, test, do the BT test, reboot your router and leave off for 30mins (rule out stale sessions) take a transcript of your "ping -t" and send it to CS and give Miriam a call to follow up...I'd be very surprised if Simon's not in here before long and gets to you personally.

Rubbish pings again today. That's 3 days running now, so I'm gonna request my MAC. Less than 1 month with IDNet and almost 1 week of that has been spikey, laggy gaming

Have you contacted CS or Support about this issue? They are extremely helpful.

Sure I have, didn't get a reply for 2 weeks now, but seems my latency in WoW has gone back to normal, most of the time anyway
