I'm back!

[link to this post]

Having been a happy customer of IDNet for around 6 months, I recently had to cancel my account as I was moving home. I faced a dilema upon moving into my new place as to whether to go with a company that offered free activation/router or pay the money up front and stick with IDNet.

After a week or so of thinking about it, I decided to go back to IDNet and submitted my order yesterday morning at 8.30am. True to form, I had an email back at 9.30am saying I would be up and running by 6pm on 7th Nov. Great service IDNet, now lets just hope BT don't mess anything up!!

Looking forward to some great speeds, am now living in the city centre very close to my exchange. Yee Haa!

I should have done what you did.
I am moving home and I was offered a free move if I would go over to madasafish before i moved so for the sake of a few pounds I asked for my MAC.
WHAT A MISTAKE! CS. is in South Africa and Pakistan and the right hand doesn't know what the left one is doing. You are activated----no you're not----yes you are etc.etc. After over two weeks I'm still on dial up.
NEVER leave idnet!

Free moves? When various ISP's started offering 'free moves', I became very wary.
With good reason it transpired, CS is of course very variable, wherever it is based.
Although I do not regard offshore call centres very highlly, which also incudes offshore cold calling centres. Despite one being signed up to the TPS, which is ignored by CPW/Talk Talk, amongst others.
Please keep us posted as to what their reasons are for not providing a broadband connection. As a friend of mine has used an ISP for several years that was recently taken over by Madasafish.

i got an email from someone who has been with them for some time but he is now quite disillusioned and is looking around for another isp with CS in the UK. as he finds the CS at madasafish sadly wanting. . I have recommended idnet to him.
I shall find out in the morning what is holding things up. I was told that it would be activated on Tuesday but "I'm not promising!" They can keep it. :-)

Hi Guys,

As a Madasafish representive on this board I would like to clarify a few points that have been raised on our services:

1. We do not cold call nor do we pass any of your personal information onto third parties. We respect the privacy of our customers.

2. Migrations into our services are generally very smooth provided that you do not cancel your order the same day that you're meant to migrate into us. This will cause complications and you will probably have to revert to dial up because your old provider will have handed over the ADSL on your line and if you tell us to cancel the order on the same day that happens.....you'll have cancelled the broadband on your line and it will have to be reinstalled.

3. Our Customer Care centre is located in South Africa. We do not have facilities in Pakistan, although we do have staff located in London.

Kind regards,
Samara

Firstly, Samara is an excellent representative of madasafish but unfortunately she is not the norm there.
I certainly told them to cancel my service IF they couldn't activate it after a considerable length of time---I think 10 days in my case. [Why 3 days or so to migrate into idnet?] One tech support at MAAF told me I was activated and the next one told me I wasn't. The next one told me that I was etc. etc. I ran up a huge telephone bill in this process. Simon tried his best to help me and BT Wholesale told him that broadband WAS on my line and that I was with MAAF. It had NOT been cancelled. A supervisor at MAAF has agreed and says that the problem is with-----wait for it----BT ----not with them!!!!!
Make no mistake! I am not blaming Samara. If I say that she is the equivalent of Miriam, you will all know how excellent she is. BUT, and it's a big but, -----idnet have also got the wonderful Simon, the equally wonderful Tim and their team. Therein lies the difference-------as well as the UK based support and their freephone number.
I reiterate, don't leave idnet for the sake of saving a few pounds. I have already spent much more than I would have had I stayed.

Sound advice, Margaret. Ultimately, we get the product we pay for, and I suspect we will all have to get used to slightly higher prices once the thrust for market share is over. As an analogy, I would cite the mobile telcos, who couldn't wait to give you a phone, insurance, great deals a decade ago. Nowadays, upgrading a handset costs more, free insurance has disappeared, in the case of Orange - itemised billing is now charged etc. Having moved from Nildram, I'm paying 12% more per month, but I've got a support team who email me at 4:34 in the morning and phone me to check all is well, and I'm on the lowest package! I consider it money well spent.
