Migrating Away from IDNET

[link to this post]

Hi everyone,

Having become thoroughly dissatisfied with IDNet's service over the last few months, and receiving no appreciable help from customer support in resolving the problems, I think it might be time to move on.

I'm suffering from the eratic pings/latency as apparently many others in this forum are, and also frequent (daily) connection interruptions.

So, the question is where are people fleeing to? It seems to be a bit of a minefield in terms of choosing a new provider who can supply a reliable/steady latency (which is my main criteria).

If anyone has successfully migrated to a new ISP and would recommend their service, I'd be very grateful to hear from you.

Thanks

State of confusion reigns. A number of Enta customers went over to O2, shortly afterwards, complaints started showing up on the O2 forum. AAISP are starting to get some positive attention, and when I had two lines, I found them to be very good. Others have started to switch over to LLU providers, if that route is open to you, make sure you make the right choice. Myself, I jumped from Enta to Plusnet 10 days ago. So far I'm delighted, and on the pro package, traffic shaping is not an issue. If they have a package that suits, I would recommend them, as well as AAISP

I was with Idnet myself some time ago and found them to be OK. What exactly the problem is right now, I don't know for sure, so I cant comment.

It's down to what your own specific needs are that will have a major influence.

Look very carefully at things like peak times etc. Particularly with AAISP, if most of your usage is in the evening, you could grab a bargain.

Is this actually true, I have used CS a few times in my 3+ years here and always found them very helpful even phoning me at home after work and their office hours to try to help. (see talking to Simon in the other thread)
Have you given them time or are you just impatient and want out so have come here to sound off?

We all know why it is happening and IDNet are trying to sort it, it may take a little time but I for one will not be jumping ship, give them time they don't have a magic wand.

So, the question is where are people fleeing to?

Are people "fleeing" to other ISP's I very much doubt it, the majority of customers will not even realise the pings are a bit hit and miss at the moment as they are not gamers, I am not seeing any loss in speed so I guess the majority of customers are not othewise this forum would be full of people complaining.

By all means have a moan and then leave but don't try to make out customers are "fleeing" because they are having ping and speed issues.

What proof do you have to backup this statement? There is no mass exodus or evidence of many people "fleeing" Idnet.

They have had a few problems after waiting for new pipes, promised by BT over 6 months ago, and with some routers and equipment which had some connection problems.

People at Idnet have been working tirelessly to put right things that have gone wrong and have admitted that some things could have gone better. They listen to their customers and act on their suggestions where practicable.

They have been the best and most honest Isp I have ever been with over the past 10 odd years. I respect their dedication and hard work as well as the way they address problems as they arrive and some that we never get to hear about and which, therefore, never affect us.

I will not be leaving any time soon and I suspect not many other customers will either.

Blimmy Alf,

The guy asked a simple question because he was not happy with the product. He is also new to the forum. Great welcome! If he does migrate, not much hope of a return imho.

I'm sure they guys at Idnet have worked their socks off. Anyway, what evidence do you have that people are not leaving?

I am certainly not thinking of migrating away in fact altough there has been some issues as highligted these things happen and the speed in which they are resloved speaks volumes for me.
Im not technically minded Im just an end user who came to IDnet nearly a year ago,the reason I came here is as valid now as it was then.
I have not had too many occassions to call suppport but when I have its there in every shape.people who know what they are talking about and I appreciate this kind of service.

I am only speaking for myself but as a user Im very happy with this company and it would take more than a few minor gliches for me even to think of moving away

I'm in the process of moving back to Zen. I have no doubt I'll probably be an Idnet customer in the future at some point. But at present and as I explained to Simon, their adsl product no longer meets my needs, due to the latency issue that has been going on for over a week. (and the latency issue is still ongoing)

I have and can - IDNet. Put it this way - I can't think of an ISP that will offer a better service for the money in future.
