Working again on Safari, but still not asking for a user ID.

Never could see the point of all that anyway, the phone number should be enough!

Re: BT Speed Test/ 21CN- Extraordinary Results

[re: ARD] [link to this post]

Ive just run another BT Speed Test. Heres the result:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 7561 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :0 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 12.76:23.47:63.77 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.

I havent been able to count on the reliability of the BT Tester or, indeed, any broadband speedtester since my line was upgraded to 21CN back in April. I don't have a speed issue but if I did I would not be able to send accurate data to IDNet. Can anybody offer an explanation?

It's broke, I've tried it on the same day using IE, Safari and Opera and got from 10% download speed over my connection speed to over 150% download speed. Seems to be happening on exchanges that have been upgraded to the 21CN network

There are suspicions that the WBC link to the BT speedtester may bypass some things that normal traffic doesn't, it's certainly been giving strange results for some time.

Whether this is down to incompetenceaccident or design is anyone's guess.
