I forgot that Unix-based systems use UDP which some systems aren't set up for. Using ICMP as Windows does, it gets all the way

routes to bbc.co.uk are kept short as idnet have only 2 routers been you and bbc, which is good. Talktalk seems to be one of the worst offenders when it comes to thier internal network design as it goes through 12 or so hops then finally out to LINX.
