16GB 3G iphone won't use home wifi

I've seen quite a few wifi issues posted on the apple forums for the new iphone. It seems the same is happening to me. I am able to add my wifi network (BT Homehub - the first version of the router i.e. the white one), but the phone constantly diverts to 3G.

Has anyone else had this experience and are there fixes?

Are you able to use the internet at all on WiFi - does it switch immediately to 3G?

It switches to 3G. If 3G is turned off, then it uses the Edge.

If you are sure that it has the correct password etc. for the WiFi router, then it sounds as if the phone is faulty.

This is the 2nd iphone and I've seen posts in forums where people also had this problem upgrading from the previous OS to the 2.0 and 2.01.

Will get onto apple and O2 tomorrow.

fwiw, mine works fine with my Netgear DG834G router, before and after the 2.01 update. It's no help to you, of course, but at least it indicates that yours *ought* to work.

Has it ever worked?

Do you connect any other devices to the wifi router via wifi successfully?

Do you use mac address filtering?

Some routers use draft N and it can cause troubles, you may be able to set it to use 54MB.

i was having this problem and found this thread.

i was able to fix mine by going into my router and kicking the iphone off the dhcp table.

when the iphone reconnected it grabbed a new ip and now im fine.

I use a DG834N and have no problem with it (DGTeam 0743 firmware) so the iPhone can be ok with draft 'N'.
