Neo Office 3

[link to this post]

Just released. Installed without sweat on the laptop. However it did loose the recent opened files.
Not had much use of it as yet, but the 'Media Browser' could prove to be a productive new feature.

I found it lost the recent files, then found them again.

Also it messed up a couple of settings (reinstating smart quotes, for example) and its screen performances feels very slow.

If Shakespeare......had a blog it would be like this.

I'll wait and see if mine return. No big deal if they don't

I think all I did was quit and relaunch.

I've relaunched a couple of times. I think that I opened a file before any relaunch and have just this in my list could be significant.

Indeed. Neo Office 3 is treated as a new program. As with Apple's change from Tiger (10.4.x) to Leopard (10.5.x).

My copy has been open in the background for a couple of days. It has just pooed a message box saying a new update is available. Clicking OK takes me to their web site and starts downloading 2.2.8, but there's a banner on the site saying version 3 is available. So I've started the Torrent download for that one.

That Freudian slip should have been "popped", not "pooed") tongue

When the install completed NeoOffice launched immediately, and its Recent Documents menu was empty. I just quit and relaunched, and they were all there. It seems much snappier than v2.x to me.

V2 always felt like one of those bloated Adobe apps, taking an age to launch, seeming somewhat reluctant to open a file dialog, and with a UI slightly out of step with "real" OS X apps. I would only open documents in it under protest, preferring to use iWork if it could do it. At first glance v3 is much more likeable, and might get more screen time here as a result.
