Network iMac & MacBook Pro

[link to this post]

I have today become the proud owner of a 15" MacBook Pro to add to my ageing but still fully functional iMac G4 (complete with Airport Card) running OS X 10.4.11. I will continue to use the iMac, although at 800MHz its not up to running Leopold.

My question is, before launching into setting up the MacBook Pro and never having tried it before, how easy is it to set up a wireless network between the two? I know that the Set-Up Assistant should help with carrying over account settings, etc from the iMac.

Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

You don't need to set up a network between the two as such. So long as you set up each to be able to log in to your router via Airport, and then turn file sharing on for the relevant parts of both discs, it should work fine. It's very easy to do once you have your router set up, which I imagine you have already.

We have four Macs networked with a mixture of wireless and wired.

Good luck, Nigel Strudwick
