iPhone v.3 update woe

[link to this post]

first attempt stuffed my phone so i restarted my iMac & moved the iPhone lead from a hub to a direct port. now it seems restored, but is on emergency numbers only as it can't contact the itunes store to authorise (i think).

deep joy frown

It took a few attempts to connect to the iTunes store. Mine did activate okay after 10 minutes of trying.

Never use a cable connected to a hub to do vital things like upgrading firmware.

Secondly, there's millions of people trying to activate and upgrade. This is the first major release since last July.

I know it doesn't help, but my upgrade went flawlessly.

I was hovering over the update button from just after 6pm though, so I was probably among the first to download it when it went live smile

Yes I hit it at 18.11, started out at over 500 KB/s, slowed up until the last 5 mins were at 20 !!!

I echo the don't use a usb tip for iphone/pod updates. If you need DFU mode you can't anyway it seems.
