Quicktime msi problem

[link to this post]

I loaded os 3.0 last night for my iPhone. Things installed ok until it said that I'd need iTunes 8.2. There was issues previously upgrading iTunes so, I just left it.

The iPhone needed 8.2 to activate and I booted into Vista to do it. Great.

I loaded XP with the iPhone still plugged in - I synced and it loaded the update whilst syncing [sort of]. I now have 8.2 but it can't sync any music or apps (in XP) due to there being the msi issue.

I tried to uninstall Quicktime Pro but couldn't. I keep getting the missing msi error. I don't know where it is [or was]??

Can anyone help with this pls.

Restore is turned off - I use True Image and it's been like this for a while. I had no need before to do anything about it until os 3.0 on the iPhone.

I use it to make images on xp.

I just cannot reinstall over / or delete Quicktime in xp - it's driving me up the wall. I've been trying for two days solid.

I'm having the same problems with the missing quicktime.msi thing.
each time i try to reinstall quicktime it says

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailible."
"Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'Quick Time.msi' in the box below."

i used search to find "Quick Time.msi" and i can't find it.

Re: Quicktime msi problem - The XP FIX

[re: Anonymous] [link to this post]

I sorted it. Use the MS uninstall cleaner and the FREE version of this.

If you un-install iTunes too (which you probably can't do either - I couldn't) - then re-install iTunes 8.2. ALL your favourites / playlists etc will return without having to do it all again.

All working again. wink

HTH.

Edit: I've added this info HERE. I could've done with this months ago after not being able to upgrade Quicktime.
