MacBook Wireless Connection

[link to this post]

Wondered about the wireless connectivity since getting the MacBook. Here's why.

I can connect ok [via WPA2] but only after a good few tries. This is after starting up, or opening the lid up after the lappy has been sleeping.

I assumed that it was just having to be re-starting the connection on the Mac. That was until I booted the Mac up today and, it was still connected.

It never lasted though. The next time the Mac had went for a sleep, I had to click on 'Join Another Network' as I just can't click on my router (it only puts a [WEP] password in. If I 'Join', I cn specify the correct encryption.

Any ideas guys?

Sorted WPA instead of WEP, but it still says invalid password a few times before logging in.

Soz, thinking out loud.

May work it out myself...

NOT like DOZE. I'm working it out myself. wink

Wireless access on intel macbooks seems to be awful. I had no end of trouble with mine dropping a wireless connection that was rock solid on two other macs. Gave up and use wired with it now. Friend with another macbook had similar issues. Old imac and ibook were faultless. They have an interference robustness option which is missing from newer macbooks.

Use one of the wireless scanners to see what other wireless networks are in your area. I suspect there is one with the same brand of router on the same channel and that is what is at the bottom of it.

Thanks for that teabelly. I got it just about sorted now.

If I shut down, it's fine - If I close the lid, it's fine - If it goes to sleep, it needs a couple of clicks only. Sometimes lol.

It's DEFINITELY not perfect, but it is as good as possible just now.

I'm enjoying myself with the Mac. I know nothing though. crazy

edited: for accuracy lol.
