New Wireless Modem/Router

[link to this post]

Is there any point purchasing a modem/router with Wireless AC for my home network connecting my iMac, Macbook and iPhone? I understand that my macs just connect with Wireless N.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

What do you have currently? A wired router? If so definitely get a wireless one smile You can get plenty of bargains

No current Apple products use Wireless AC, so there is no real point in purchasing a new router. I guess if you were buying one anyway then you might consider AC for futerproofing, but I'm not sure it would be worth it.

Are you using AES encryption?

Same with my iP4s+5 - my MBP laps up the bandwidth too. All on 'N'.

WPA2-AES only with a/b/g/n support

I'm using a netgear WNDR3400 with 5ghz and 2.4 ghz all working great.

Approx 10 - 20 devices connected at once.

That's actually pretty helpful - I have a Cisco WAP4401N that iOS6 does not like the AES on (will work until there is a big download and then lose the internet) - but WPA with TKIP is fine.

Both a iPhone 4 and a spanking new 4th Gen iPad (which is a thing of beauty and getting much more use than I expected).
