If you own a Windows computer and it's over 6 months old then you are eligible for a free antivirus scan.

No idea, go and ask a PC user, what's a "virus' anyway?

Macs are not invulnerable to viruses - there are fewer viruses around for Macs and there is more protection baked in to the OS than with Windows but they are not immune - especially to malware spread by social engineering. Anyone that thinks a Mac cannot get a virus could end up with a nasty shock if they aren't careful.

Well, Never had one in 10 years, so I hope that remains the case.

Apple just refused to replace my keyboard unless I paid them a holding deposit of £100 which they would only give back if they deemed the intermittent connection fault to be correct.

Would be cheaper to just go buy a new one - would certainly be cheaper than the £680 I paid in Apple care last year. Waste of [censored] money.

Might be back on Windows in the near future anyway - so I will head this threads advice if/when I do

Just had the battery unit on my MPB 2013 replaced under Applecare and while it was in they found a fault on the screen and replaced that too. All 10 days before Applecare expired. All FoC. They even held the part for a few days since I was busy and couldn't risk being without the machine for a couple of days (in the end the repair took 90 mins, but they always quote 2-5 days).

Would have cost over £600 without Applecare.

The issue was detected when I took it in for something wholly unrelated (which turned out to be a failing ext HD, not a Mac issue).

I know what you mean, I was not prepared to pay the £99 they wanted, hold or not for something that they claims when they sold it to me should have been replaced under Apple Care

I've bought a new one as I am tired of charging batteries for it - so now I have the version 2 for now.

I'm puzzled. Did you have Applecare?

Yes - paid for 3 years x2 when I bough 2 macs. They told me the £99 was so everyone didn't get a "free keyboard"

I feel for them, they only make around 219 Billion a year - poor things!

Which store? Neither Brent Cross nor Milton Keynes - the two I've used for repairs over the years - did anything remotely similar (and Brent Cross gave me a new battery even though Applecare had expired and batteries weren't covered anyway.

Not a store this was over the phone. My nearest store is a 1.5 hour trip away.

I am still arguing with them about it. Going to give up soon
