Airport Express

[link to this post]

I might get another one, so I decided to change the name of the current one to something meaningful. No problem, but...

The router sees the new name, an arp -a sees the new name, everything sees the new name except the only application that uses the damn thing- iTunes

I've messed around under Preferences, quit and restarted iTunes with various combinations more times than I care to think about, even restarted the iMac with different iTunes preferences, but no joy, it's stubbornly sticking to the old name.

The MacBook is doing the same, though they both play through the Express perfectly well.

I must have missed something... HELP

Probably a dumb question - have you tried changing the 'iTunes Speaker Name' (under the iTunes tab in the Airport utility)?

But accurately judged

I didn't realise the Airtunes bit could have a different name to the main base station, I originally set it up using the wizard.

Thanks

And when you think your speakers or airtunes aren't working properly, don't forget to look at the selected output on the bottom right of the iTunes screen

And make sure you haven't muted or turned down the internal speakers... been there, done that and more
