weird printing problem

[link to this post]

OK MacBook C2D [ see Siggie] has Neo-Office and MS Office installed and in use.

Needed to print out a document [ done in MS something or other suffix is DOT DOC ]for my husband who had e-mailed it to me [ well it had been e-mailed to him ] soooooo brought my HP Printer [ PSC1410] down and set it up in the living room - could not be hassled to try and see if I could use his HP DeskJet ]

Started Printing and lo and behold after the first 2 lines of the Doc. were printed it stopped !! Told me it was client error !! I wasted 6 pieces of paper on this next I converted the darn thing to a PDF - no joy , tried it as rtf - same result. By this time I was getting a tad irritated.

Gave up in disgust and went and got the Canon Printer from the caravan - and it printed said document without any hassle.

Can anyone explain this ? Does this mean I'm going to have to use the canon printer for anything in MS ?

I'll admit this is the first time I have tried to print from MS Office [ I think ] since installing it - I normally use Neo-Office

As an alternative with a .doc, if the document is not very complex, open it in NeoOffice and then print.

Yebbut - I have both Suites on the MacBook so why can't I just doubleclick on the wretched thing and print from MS Office ?

Sorry have had a bad day and this was just the perfect end to it - it was only just 1 A4 Side - a Bank mandate Form so not complex .

I would expect you to be able to. Could check for updated printer drivers.

gets more interesting

I have just printed out a letter composed in MSWord for Macs and printed it using my HP PSC1410 [ it was a heck of a faff changing the printer over though - must check how to do that more easily - printing seems to automatically revert to the last connected printer - which was the Canon ]

Now if I can print from MSWord which was installed on my MacBook why could I not print the one that had come as an attachment to an e-mail and had been done on another machine ?
