Multifunction Printer Recommendations?

Any suggestions for an OS X compatible multifunction (printer/scanner at least) printer ? Ideally I'd like wireless connectivity and cheap running costs.

I bought a Brother DCP-7030 a few weeks ago. Pretty sweet printer, works really well with OS X as well. Prints quickly and toner seems good valuie. No wireless though, USB only.

Edit: DOH, just realised you didn't say laser printer and did say cheap, in which case this is probably not a good choice

Actually I'm open to laser or inkjet suggestions and am willing to spend around £200. I haven't used an inkjet for quite a while and tend to worry about the cost of replacement ink cartridges - what's the point of fantastic colour if it's going to cost an arm and a leg to print ?

I bought a Canon Pixma MX850 very recently and, so far, I am pleased with the results. Too early to say what the ink consumption is like, however. I am only hacked off that it has been superseded by a new model (MX860) already, which apparently has wireless built-in whereas the MX850 doesn't.

My MX850 works well with OSX 10.5.6 and you can get it for well under £200 if you shop around (mine from Oyyy.co.uk).

I use a HP Photosmart C4380. It's wireless and relatively cheap to run.

Edit - it can also scan and copy. Cost about £180.

HP in my opinion are among the worst printers for a Mac. Drivers are clunky and they never seem to be in a hurry to update drivers for new OS versions. They expect you to buy a new printer when you upgrade your system. Btother on the other hand seem to be quite good at extending the life of their products by updating their drivers when the system changes.

This is my second HP printer and I have never had a problem with drivers in the period from OS 10.1 to now.

Drivers are a problem for me. My 5 year old HP PSC 1XXX and my wife's even older HP PSC ???? are both really good reliable printers and copiers that run cheaply - but we can't scan using either of them because OSX doesn't have that built in capability. We don't scan enough to justify $40 for Vuescan, and can't see the point in buying a new printer just for the sake of it.

Have you tried Image capture(in your apps folder) to see if it sees the scanner.

thanks - Just tried it - it finds the device, but I can't do anything with it.
