Re: Iphone 3.0 software update

I've never had an issue with the battery life, it's actually not bad in comparison to other smartphones I've had.

In reply to a post by gilesjuk:
If they had owned any other smartphones they wouldn't be whining about cut n paste.

How so? It's been a useful feature on every phone I've used that's had it.

....... and soon we may have it, assuming all models of iPhone can run v3.0!

Beware strong language with a rampant Diggnation audience in the video.

Cus other phones require resets, mail accounts go missing etc...

The smartphone edition of Windows Mobile doesnt have cut and paste and it never caused as much fuss.

Never had any of those problems personally.

I suppose it's all relative to what features you find useful on a phone. Having been used to cut and paste on every phone I've had since about 2005/6 (probably earlier actually), it was a bit of a suprise not to see it on the iPhone.

Especially as you can't forward SMS messages or send business contacts, it's a staggering omission if you want to target business users (which they tried, and failed in my experience) for those two reasons alone.

True in some ways, but you have to also look back in time, it's not quite 2 years since iPhone 1.0 and Apple have never been a phone maker.

Shrinking OSX into a phone and building up all the SDKs is a big task. Especially when Linux tends to have a much longer history on embedded devices.

People only look at the front of the device, adding all the SDKs for the features takes time to do well.

2.2.1 was January, we're nearly on 3.0 in March. Name me another platform with developments at that pace? name me another phone platform where you get the updates without buying a new phone?
