I believe it's all been perfectly planned by Apple.

I think you might be over estimating them slightly laugh

They knew that by releasing the original iPhone with so many 'standard' features missing that a core group people would still buy it regardless and set the ball rolling.

Yup, the bling and early adopter crowd. Wouldn't touch a first gen iPhone with a barge pole myself!

I was one of them, and I can honestly say that I don't want to switch to another phone manufacturer now. The only reason I'll get another phone is if Apple release a brand new one.

The 3G was a good move, it's definately what put a lot of people off the first release. As for only ever getting another Apple phone, I don't make choices based on the company, if Blackberry, SE or another manufacturer release a phone better than the iPhone, I'll get it.

Fact remains that even with many 'standard' features missing people still think it's one of the better phones out there.

And I'm one of them. Nothing wrong with wanting the more common features as well though, doesn't make me or any of the hordes of other people asking for them a moron for voicing that either! Now the way it's asked for, that's another issue altogether.

Don't know to be honest. I do know that it is possible though, it's been available on a jailbroken phone for a while, called iBluetooth, don't know how well it works though.
