Leopard share vexation

I have two machines.

1. An MBP, upstairs my main machine.
2. A rev1 mini downstairs, a media centre.

The mini has an external drive (Miranda) which is shared and was available to the MBP UNTIL I restarted the mini for a new version of Rowmote Helper (iphone app).

Now on the MBP Miranda shows up as a share, but when I click on it I get a message about the original not being found. If I Get Info, the "find new original" button is greyed.

If I right-click-show-original it tells me the alias is broke and let me fix it, but if I navigate to Miranda it hangs the Finder (I actually suspect I am navigating to the alias itself).

Restarted Finder, restarted the MBP. Shutdown and restarted. Nothing will flush this broken alias out and put a new one there.

Any ideas? As I say, this worked perfectly (could fileshare and screen share) until the mini was rebooted.

Additional:

There is some sort of permission issue - if I connect as my (mini) Admin user I can access the drive. Yet the drives permissions are set to let everyone read or write.

I see this here: pretty sure it's a bug in Leopard. Every so often (not always) after a reboot, filesharing will claim to have started up, but it's lying. If you do a "netstat -an" you will see that there is nothing listening on the AFP port (548). Just disable/re-enable sharing and it will be happy again. I haven't bothered digging into it any further as it's a minor irritation.

Yeah, tried the whole range of resets and restarts to no avail.

Only connecting as Admin makes the disk available. Odd.
