Transfer iTunes music library problem

[link to this post]

Awaiting arrival of WD ext HD - tried transferring some of the iTunes music on my pb g4 over onto my wife's "beautiful" new aluminium macbook, using a Crucial 8gb Gizmo, which plugs into a usb port.
But can't drop in multiple selection of albums - only one at a time into Gizmo then: eject dmg>plug Gizmo into mb>drop dmg into mb iTunes, transferred a few using this method.
Everything o.k. (list, grid, coverflow, artwork etc) but albums not listed in the playlist column - seems only way is to d&d each album over into new playlist and type in title - this is not a really an option for entire library, as way too many albums involved - is there a way to do this simply?
Have got Super Duper to use with the WD when it turns up. Once pb is backed up, is it possible to hook up WD to mb > select iTunes library > transfer it over?
Any advice appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure if I'm answering the question or not, but. . .when I got my MacBook a couple years ago, I transferred my music from an Iomega external HD, and then just loaded the iTunes library straight from the MacBook HD. I don't remember having to drag and drop as I went, or rename folders etc. In my setup, each artist has a sub folder under the iTunes Music folder, with each artist then having a sub folder for each album. I simply copied all the albums at once (or maybe in three or four chunks) straight onto the MacBook HD.

I'm not sure at all either BUT a quick e-mail to the SuperDuper folk may well give you the answer .

I've had a couple of problems with SuperDuper and had a reply from them in about 2 hours - try them

If the computers are networked and the "source" iTunes library folder is shared, you should be able to use the File => Add to Library menu item on the destination machine to pull the entire folder over.

You might need to register the new machine if there's Apple's DRM on anything.

Thanks Kev. My setup is the same as yours: "each artist has a sub folder under the iTunes Music folder, with each artist then having a sub folder for each album."
Do the sub folders for each album show up under playlists in the library column, as they do in iTunes on my pb?
The problem is the sub folders list did not transfer over to the mb or at least they do not show up in the mb play list column. Perhaps I should see what the Western Digital ext HD can do - hoping it shows up tomorrow.
Do I understand you right, you copied the contents of your old machines iTunes library to an external HD
then transferred it to the new mb?

Thanks Bill and Goldie.
Will give Bill's networking solution a try later tonight - let you know how I get on.
