cannot connect applemac to my network

I have a visitor with applemac (new with 4 gig etc). She cannot connect it to my Netgear router network which has no security code. I entered her mac code in netgear. I think it recognise the ssid of my network, but it always asks me about the wep/wap code which I do not have on my system!!. Can anybody help please? I run the diagnostic on the applemac, without success.

The problem has been resolved by a pc user. Lesson learned, never bother with a mac!!

You provided so little information that no one could make sense of this. Was the network wired or wireless. If wireless then you really would be unimaginably stupid to have it unsecured. If wired then someone was completely stupid in not knowing the difference between accessing wired and wireless networks.

I mentioned "ssid" that means service set identifier which is only relevant in wireless connections.Of course silly me I am posting to apple users who do not understand these matters.

I suspect your biggest problem is not that you could not connect the Mac but that you say you are running an unsecured wireless network. Very unwise.

Or the OP has not changed the default SSID on the router. There could be a second router with the same SSID with security set-up. That's my guess.
