Legal issues with Leopard

I'm not sure on the legality of what I'm about to ask, or whether it'll actually be possible, but I thought I'd ask regardless

Tomorrow I hope to go out and purchase Snow Leopard for my MacBook, which currently runs Leopard. My mother has my old iBook G4 which runs Tiger. Would it be possible to install Leopard on her iBook using my old Leopard discs? Is doing so legal, bearing in mind I'll no longer be running Leopard?

How much RAM has she got? Less than 1Gb and I wouldn't bother.

No, but there isn't really anything to stop you (except your jolly old sense of British fair play, old chap) (and the RAM in the old machine).

My Gen 1 mini does a nice job as a media server running Leopard with half a gig - but I'm not sure I'd fancy doing real work on it.

I wouldn't want to clutter the iBook with Leopard as it's never been the snappiest of beasts. Stick with Tiger.

Only a 40GB HD, though.

A Mini with 1/2 Gig isn't really good for interactive work. I run Leopard on such a setup, but only because I want to use XCode 3. Now that I've got Leopard running in a VMware virtual machine on my PC I may revert the Mini back to the original OS - it was a lot snappier then.

I am not a lawyer, but I'd guess...

If the Snow Leopard you're buying is an upgrade then "No". If it's a clean install then "Probably".

You can't sell or move your old licence when you get an upgrade edition. You don't have a standalone version of Snow Leopard and so you will always need the Leopard discs to install Snow Leopard.
