Re: iPlayer radio has stopped working on iPad

I tried iPlayer last night on my iPad (1st gen) and both TV and radio worked fine. An odd problem this as it works for some people but not others. Wonder how widespread this is?

BT -> Zen -> F2S -> Bulldog -> Be* -> BT Infinity
Far too many computers, 1 Wife, 3 Maine Coons and too many horses smile

Obvious thing to check

Are you accessing iPlayer via an app (can't recall if there is an iPad app) or Safari?

If Safari, have you tried clearing the cache (and if an app, does it have a cache that can be cleared?)

Does the iPad use flash to play iplayer?

Since 10.1 and after has been relased by Adobe more and more problems like this appear for a section of users.

For me I cannot play any flash video after 10.1 without my PC hanging no matter what I try including a full reinstall of windows so I rolled back to 10.0.

Adobe say they are "aware" of problems that flash are causing but not fixing them.

Just another thing to look at.

Hi,

It makes no difference whether I access it via the app (which is pretty pointless anyway) or directly via Safari. Both the same failure.

And yes, clearing the cache was one of the first things I tried (before the complete reboot). For some reason, I was confident that would fix it, but I was disappointed. frown

No, the iPad doesn't (can't) use Flash at all. It's incompatible.

The BBC's iPad offerings use Quicktime (I think!)

Sorry that doesn't help your Flash problem with Windows. You may want to try raising it on the Windows Issues forum, if you haven't already.

I have not (so far) had issues with any version of Flash or any version of Windows (I'm not talking about my iPad now, fairly obviously).

This is the only forum which has made any mention of this issue currently and has only affected 2 of us so far.
Reduced to accessing iplayer radio via a mobile fone and my wifi and sending the h/phone output to my sound system

No one any clues from the debug error message?

JavaScript error in line 143, syntax error parse error.

A really stupid question but here goes: Do you have JavaScript enabled on your iPad?

It's no help to solving your problems, but it looks as though the Beeb have been playing with it:
