Lion takes a wee bit longer to boot up compared to SL, but I STILL like it and some of the extra's. I s'pose.

Don't agree. It's perhaps the way you install. Did you upgrade an existing SL or go for a 'clean' install? I wiped one of my iMacs and installed Lion. Re-installed all apps, Photoshop & Lightroom being the main ones. Performance is better, boot-up is certainly quicker.
I did agree already.

My experience of Lion is that it is total rubbish. I have had total iMac freezes & crashes, something I had not seen since my Windows days. Java applet mostly does not load, flash slows the system, the system is overloaded with gumph which makes it very slow, with most operations causing the spinning beach ball. It is not compatible with my Epsom Stylus 22 printer, and both Firefox & Safari will freeze or crash with too many tabs open. many are reporting all these problems. A total nightmare for me. Like others, I am close to switching to one of my W7 boxes as a main machine.

I've seen none of these problems you describe. Perhaps it's a bad install, try a clean install.

I would not be silly enough to do anything other than a clean install of Lion. These problems are widespread.

I have no problems either, running Lion on a mid 2007 MBP (2.2GHz core-2 duo) and mid 2010 iMac (quad core i5 27"). I currently have 19 safari windows open and one of those has 10 tabs.
