Upgrading memory

I want to upgrade the memory in my Mid 2012 Macbook Pro from the current 8GB to 16 GB.

Is this classed as a user upgradeable part or do I need to take it to Apple for that? I don't really want to pay what they charge for memory when I can get the same from Crucial for about £64.

MBP RAM upgrades are usually dead easy (but haven't used that model) - the Retina ones are the exception.

Crucial memory is fine on most Apples... I've upgraded my two iMacs and an MBP with Crucial memory. Very straightforward.

I presume you have run Crucial's Memory Scanner on your MBP to ensure you get the correct memory for your model?

Price is good and delivery is usually within 1 to 2 days.
