I get the impression (from both the article and the few comments that I've read) that he's talking about IMAP. and that POP3 is OK.

That may or may not answer you or Goldie crazy

No, I use IMAP whenever possible. But GMail has been fine with Mountain Lion.

Use Gmail with imap, only account in mail in Mavericks. Haven't seen any problems at all.
Working in tandem with ios7 mail too.

In reply to a post by AEP:
There's a very comprehensive review of it on Ars Technica: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2013/10/os-x-10-9/
The review suggests it can prolong battery life significantly so I may upgrade my MacBook Pro 13" 2009. I'm waiting a couple of weeks for any bugs to surface though.

I just hope my Flying Toasters screensaver works on Mavericks smile

I think I'll wait a while it doesn't do anything new that I particularly need.

The review suggested it was more useful to laptop users than those with desktops.

It actually feels quite a lot more "snappy" on my Mac Mini (allowing for the fact that I'm running it off a USB drive). Perhaps this memory compression really works.

I've just managed to lock my Mac up completely running the Android emulator under Eclipse. And when I tried to SSH in I was told "Invalid Password" (it wasn't). Machine eventually went crazy with the fans going full speed and I had to power it off. That's not good.

I've just started doing Android development on the Mac, so that's a showstopper. Now I've got to decide whether to switch to my Windows machine (which is a bit noisy) for development or forget Mavericks for the time being. I suspect it'll be the latter.

Couple of people I know on another forum installed it today and tomorrow they're going back to Mountain Lion.

Think I'll wait for 10.9.1 or maybe .2 crazy
