Typical APE attempt at trashing Apple.

I suspect you do not even have any Apple equipment, or are capable of using it.

I think AEP has probably used more Apple equipment as a professional than YOU have. Besides, I thought everyone could use Apple equipment because it was so much easier and 100% self explanatory?

Turns out that I'm not the only one with this problem:

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19243490/android-...

It's been reported to Intel so hpoefully there will be an update to HAX soon. Apparently there was a similar problem initially with Mountain Lion.

Good; Mavericks seems to be a worthwhile upgrade apart from this. And I guess there are not a huge percentage of the OS X user base doing Android development. wink

Well I downloaded and installed the OS/X last night, took about 15 minutes to download and about 1 hour to install, had a quick look then went to bed.

Got up this morning and I noticed it booted really slow and then I had the coloured wheel whirling away, eventually after it loaded and all the icons where in place I thought I would take a look at what has changed but then the problems started.

Every single item in the dock I clicked on said it was not Compatable with the OS/X,safari ,settings, mail ,activity monitor ,Chrome, every single thing I clicked on would not work with with the compatability error.

Rang Apple Care and they ran through some things to try out like using Dusk Utility and trying a repair, after spending the best part of 1 hour and nothing working it was then suggested a reinstall of the OS.

Since I have done this a few hours ago things seem to be working but I still think its a lot slower for some unknown reason, not desperately slow but slower than Mountain Lion.

Not really sure what the benefits of this new mavericks is to be honest as I didn't see much on the Apple store regarding this that I thought was just what I needed.

I always update so when I saw it on the forums and the fact I was awake half the night I thought I would download and install it.

Anyone else have any similar issues....

Apart from the one problem - which is, unfortunately, a killer for me, but unlikely to affect many people - Mavericks worked very well for me. If anything it seemed snapier than Mountain Lion. This is on a 2011 Mac Mini server.

From what I have seen it looks pretty nice ,like when you search the internet sites and the menu is different on the left panel .

Will look later this evening and guess I will look up some videos about this OS.

There is some talk that Apple may not provide any further security updates for versions of OS X earlier than Mavericks, including security problems that Maverick fixes. If so there may be little choice about upgrading.

Apparently the Mail client doesn't sit well with Gmail

Not a problem for me as nor do I smile
Fairly comprehensive analysis of the Gmail issue

AEP - 30+ (?) years working in the IT sector both as a hobbyist and professional, thousands of posts made here related technical discussion. As far as I am aware IT is not your occupation, and in addition to that I don't see you posting anything on these forums regards technical discussion.

Assumption indeed!

Oh and by the way - YOU was the first person in this thread to make a snide comment, not myself or AEP.

Trouble-free upgrade on the oldest machine Mavericks supports.

I am aware I can probably find this out by googling but just out of interest could you post how old said machine is (year), and what its specifications are (CPU, memory, HDD space) please?
