dropbox

Do any of you use Dropbox on the Mac?
A mate got this strange problem on his mac book air.
We copy a file from his docs folder to dropbox and it is fine, but as soone as we delete the file we copied from the docs folder, the one in the dropbox folder goes as well.

Any ideas?

Isn't that how sync works? You could try selective sync https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/175

Just drag it with track pad while holding down the track pad button.
Something like left mouse and drag on the PC.
Is there another way?

I do not use the Mac myself apart from some software, but never used the desktop.
This person who owns the MAc Air is a new mac user.

I use it myself on both Linux and Windows and never ever had the problem either.

Not when you delete it out of the docs folder and it also deletes out of the dropbox folder. Both folders are not suppose to be linked

I just thought do normal dragging just do a shortcut and not move the file itself?

That will move, not copy.

Hold down the option key while dragging to copy.

it will copy if to a different drive.
