Tiny exactly how does one go about doing that....

Do you have a simple instruction link,i know i could search myself but if you have a quick simple solution then that would help me.

Always struggled with mails and set up.

Do you realise not even her own technical department have managed to correctly do it,she has been working with this macbook air for about 4 years and wants to go back to windows.

They managed to do a remote link and what they actually managed to port over to her windows laptop where deleted mails and folder from around 3 years ago and no recent content.

I am also lead to believe that this Imap process it tedious and very long winded and can be open to corruption and not porting over all the exsisting mail boxes.

I was going to get a 3rd party converter as the mail format on Mac is different on Windows, there is a free version but also a paid version which I'm guessing is what I'm going to need as there would be little point having a paid version if the free version actually done the job.

Its her personnel Works Email address and not a Gmail account ,and this address has the company she works for and a .com on the end.

She'd really need to talk to her IT folk again about IMAP (although they do sound fairly useless) as it is a function of the mail server. IMAP is very reliable, not difficult to set up, and I would expect any modern mail server to handle it. Perhaps the best thing is if she asks specifically about IMAP as an option; the potential problem is that the mail server might be set up to delete mail once it has been downloaded, which would rule out IMAP as a method of getting the old mails.

As starters I would try out that 3rd party converter. I can't think why the IT people should have such difficulty with this; it's a fairly common request to transfer mail from one computer to another.

Well I did a quick search and came across this:

http://download.cnet.com/Mac-Mail-to-Outlook-Convert...

Sounds easy - or at least some IT functionary should be able to use it??

Turns out it wasn't Outlook Express at all, the OP was mistaken.
