Yes, it is interesting. Still not going to get me to use it. I don;t use Duck Duck go A.I, I use Duck Duck Go NO A.I. There is a specific site noai.duckduckgo.com and it don't use A.I.

I have not used Google search for a few years now and from what i have heard google forcing A.I onto people I can;t see myself using it again. At least Duck Duck go have the option.

Apple should also make the option to not use A.i easier, in the versions of MacOs before 27, it was easy to switch off, with 27 not so easy and when you do, it still still takes up disk space.

About time these companies realise that not all of us want to use A.I. I find it interesting, but have no reason to use it myself.

It seems to be adding sorts of extras to Siri AI except the ability to get rid of it, so it can wait... I'm quite happy with Tahoe on the Neo.

The iPhone 12 is too old to take all the AI stuff so I've put what's left on that, the iMac is Intel so won't update beyond Tahoe anyway smile

eta- Siri doesn't seem to be intelligent enough to realise when it's not welcome and just quietly leave the building... I wouldn't mind that smile

Make sure you update to 26.7.2 for the security fixes that have been backported to Tahoe. Lots of critical ones now from Apple, just like every other software company in the world. Good and bad guys using AI to find and fix, or exploit vulnerabilities.

Macrumors reported 160 or more fixes to Apple's small number of related products this month. Equivalent really to Microsoft's 900+ as they have many more products.

I'd done that on the iMac, but got sidetracked and forgot to do it on the Neo. Thanks for the reminder 👍

That is the problem and I have proved by installing Golden Gate on a external drive that it can work without all the A.I and can stop using space when disabled. If it can be done on a external drive, then why don;t Apple make it possible on a internal drive?

this is the issue I have and not just Apple, Google is not much better either, trying to get rid of Gemini, i can disable it, but I still get notices about it and little things pop up about it.

I have seen how well A.I works, the hospital is now using it to take notes, I went there on Saturday to the A & E because I was having pains in my left chest and arm. According to the discharged notes that I had yesterday,l I worked at Saints and moved heavy cages and boobs. LOL

It was suppose to be, I worked at Sainsbury's and moved heavy cages full of booze and other heavy stock.

The problem with AI is the people that are using it. AI is a helpful tool. It needs a human to review the output to make sure it is correct and edit anything that isn't. AI can significantly speed up workflows but so many people miss the step where you check the output and fix any issues so that is why there are so many issues. Responsible use of AI is great, just using AI to capture a load of speech and not checking it got it correct is irresponsible.

However, could you please put a word in for me at Saints as it sounds like a decent job - well, half decent, I could do without the heavy cages but the rest of it sounds intriguing.

I don't know if this is typical, but after applying 27.2 to my 256GB MacBook with Siri AI turned off I now have around 20GB more free storage than before. with a correspondingg decrease in System Data.

I got notifications for it, but on the Neo had to first scroll through swathes of blurb about the delights of GG to see it.

They weren't relevant for the Mac so weren't there, so it was the only update in the list.
